Hello, Military Writers Guild!
Welcome to this month’s MWG newsletter, part of a monthly series where you can find information about the MWG, what the guild has been doing, and how you can be involved.
This month’s newsletter includes: Updates, general reminders/news, and a continuation of our new section: member notes!
❗Updates:
The MWG Board had their first meeting of the year Sunday, February 1st, updates coming soon!
Request for information: Author Phoebe Wills is seeking behavioral insight on Marine boot camp for a fiction piece:
“Hello, I’m a writer researching a historical fiction story about Marine boot camp. I am not seeking training procedures or classified information, only general behavioral realism—how recruits experience stress, how authority figures are perceived, and how discipline feels in lived experience. If a Marine veteran or someone with Marine Corps experience associated with this group could offer a few high‑level comments or corrections, I’d be grateful. Thank you for your time and service. --Phoebe :)”.
If you are interested in helping Phoebe, please reach out to militarywritersguild@gmail.com and we can connect you.

4th Book from MWG member James Lint: The Unscheduled Life: Mastering the Art of Retirement
“Retire the Schedule, Not Your Purpose. 🚀For years, your life was defined by the next goal, the next meeting, and the next achievement. But what happens when the calendar goes blank? In The Unscheduled Life: Mastering the Art of Retirement, author James R. Lint provides a “Psychological Operating Manual” specifically for high-achievers. This isn’t a book about 401(k)s—it’s about the mission of your life after work.”
